Here are preseason draft predictions. (New England doesn't have a selection in round 1 due to deflategate). Leave comments or questions at the bottom of the page. Draft Order based on current standings, and current playoff standing. Updated 10/7.

Mock Draft 1.1

  1. Detroit Lions (0-4) – Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State – The Lions have had some tough luck, and a decently tough schedule through 4 weeks, so they lie as the only team without a victory. While some may think that if Detroit finishes here, it would be time to give up on Matthew Stafford, but I think this would be a best player available type pick here. That guy so far is Bosa.

  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-3) – Robert Nkemdiche, DL, Ole Miss – Jameis is going to need time to develop, the offensive is really young, and will be better over the time. If Tampa doesn’t go defense here, they should go offensive line. Plenty of studs on the defensive side of the ball at pick 2, Nkemdiche is a beast, him and McCoy on the same line is really good.

  3. Miami Dolphins (1-3) – Jalen Ramsey, S, Florida State – Miami just fired Joe Philbin, and have the bye week with new HC Dan Campbell to get things back on track before they play the Titans week 6. They have a lot of weapons on offense and their defensive front is better than most. They need some more youth in the secondary. Ramsey is the best defensive back in the draft.

  4. Cleveland Browns (1-3) – Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss – Tunsil hasn’t taken the field yet for the Rebels, so teams may be hesitant to draft him this high, but his talent is unquestioned. Joe Thomas is getting older, Mitchell Schwartz is a free agent at seasons end. Talent wise, Tunsil is the best player on the board.

  5. New Orleans Saints (1-3) – Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida – Keenan Lewis just came back from injury, and they did acquire Brandon Browner in the offseason. Hargreaves is the best pure cornerback in the draft class. The Saints could use another wide receiver possibly, but they get better value with Hargreaves than they would with a wide receiver at 5.

  6. Houston Texans (1-3) – Jared Goff, QB, California – 4 weeks down and the quarterback situation in Houston is as bad as its going to get. Both QBs have been pulled mid start after getting throttled. Houston’s best franchise QB has been Matt Schaub, which isn’t saying much. Goff has very good accuracy and all the tools to be successful at the next level.

  7. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) – Ronnie Staley, OT, Notre Dame – Jaguars are still a year or two away. They have had some decent draft picks, Brandon Linder is being called the next Steve Hutchinson, even though he is now out for the season. If Luke Joeckel does not improve this year, they may need to look to find his successor. Staley could be that guy.

  8. Chicago Bears (1-3) – Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State – Jay Cutler’s days are numbered in Chicago, but when he missed week 3 vs Seattle, and Jimmy Clausen was calling the shots, you saw how miserable that offense was. Cutler is still under contract, Cook could be a great backup for a year, and then Cutler can pass the reigns to the young Spartan.

  9. San Francisco 49ers (1-3) – Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss – 3 Rebels in the top 10, that would be amazing for that program. Treadwell is the best wide receiver in the draft class, if he goes. He is a great blocker, has good size and speed, and a good catch radius. Kaepernick needs some more help, Boldin and Torrey Smith have not panned out in San Fran.

  10. Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) – Su’a Cravens, S, USC – This pick could easily change to an offensive lineman, after the pretty poor start that group has had to this point. Cravens though is a versatile defensive back who can play over the top and in the box. Some versatile defender like that could make the Eagles defense pretty dynamic.

  11. Baltimore Ravens (1-3) – Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State – Justin Forsett had a good game vs the Steelers on Thursday night, but he turns 30 next week, and you know what they say about 30 year old running backs. Elliot was the stability that carried the Buckeyes through a QB transition last winter, he can block, has good speed, and is a strong tough runner.

  12. Kansas City Chiefs (1-3) – Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State – Eric Fisher has not been very good at all for Kansas City. He started the year as a backup, and has played recently after Jah Reid suffered an injury. Donald Stephenson is a free agent at seasons end, and the Chiefs need another Tackle. Decker is a tough guy. The best offensive lineman on the best team in D1.

  13. Tennessee Titans (1-2) – DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon – Another Oregon Duck for Tennessee in round 1? If the draft falls this way, this should be their guy. Jurrell Casey is again quietly having a monster season. Buckner could slide right into the other 3-4 DE role, and make it as stout of a front as any in the NFL.

  14. Washington Redskins (2-2) – Mike Thomas, WR, Ohio State – If another QB finishes strong enough to be considered a first rounder, that could be the pick here, but if that isn’t the case, Washington lucks out here getting a need and one of the best players available. Thomas will go up and get it, and has a great frame at 6’3” 210lbs.

  15. Seattle Seahawks (2-2) – A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama – Don’t expect Seattle to be picking at 15 come May, but if this player fell to them, they wouldn’t be able to run to the phone fast enough. Robinson doesn’t have eye popping stats, but he impacts the game in so many other ways on every play.

  16. San Diego Chargers (2-2) – Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh – San Diego I thought got a huge steal when they snagged Keenan Allen in the 3rd round. Michael Floyd is a talented receiver, but he cannot stay healthy. Stevie Johnson will turn 30 next summer, the Chargers need a legit number 2 wide out. Boyd is breaking all of Larry Fitz’s records at Pittsburgh. He is legit.

  17. Minnesota Vikings (2-2) – Jaylon Smith, OLB, Notre Dame – The Vikings have a team that will be in the playoffs if not this year, then next year. They have made several good moves in draft and free agency, with Harrison Smith, Anthony Barr, Linval Joseph etc. Jaylon Smith is the best player on the board, and makes an already good time a lot better.

  18. Oakland Raiders (2-2) – Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State – Donald Penn and Khalif Barnes are free agents after this season. Menelik Watson will be back next season, to take one of the tackles, the Raiders are going to need to protect Carr if this young and super talented offense is going to continue to progress. Conklin is a tough guy and a great story, will be a good pro.

  19. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) – Kendall Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech – Kendall Fuller is going to be an interesting prospect come May. He has the skillset to go top 10, but he tore his meniscus in August, and is now sidelined for the next several months. Pittsburgh needs to reload their secondary, and if Fuller comes back as strong as before, then this will be a steal at 19.

  20. New York Giants (2-2) – Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama – This pick could easily be like the previous pick, with Myles Jack, but the Giants love high character guys, and Ragland is one of the most respected players in college right now. He’s a leader, good sideline to sideline and straight line speed, and while I like Jon Beason, he just can’t stay healthy.

  21. Buffalo Bills (2-2) – Josh Doctson, WR, TCU – I’ve been saying the last year or two that the Bills are a QB away from being a playoff team, and maybe Tyrod Taylor is that QB. Right now, Robert Woods is the Bills number 2 receiver. He is a nice target, but I think he’d be better in the slot. Doctson is great outside, and is making fools of opposing corners at the moment.

  22. St. Louis Rams (2-2) – Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia – The Rams defensive line is really good. It was really good before they got Aaron Donald, who is already one of the best interior lineman in the game. I see St. Louis as a great landing spot for Floyd, who can gain some size and strength, and get to take some chances behind a great front four.

  23. New York Jets (3-1) – Jordan Jenkins, OLB, Georgia – Jordan Jenkins is bringing it all together this season. 7.5 TFLs, 3 Sacks, a forced fumble, he’s been spectacular. The Jets defense has been a lot better this season, they need a little more talent on the edge. Jenkins ability to guard Tight Ends really makes him an asset.

  24. Atlanta Falcons (4-0) – Shawn Oakman, DL, Baylor – The Dan Quinn era in Atlanta could not have gotten off to a better start. The Falcons should go defense again in this year’s draft, and even though the D-Line has good depth, Clayborn and Biermann are upcoming FAs, and Shawn Oakman is a monster at 6’9”, and Dan Quinn can figure out some new role for him.

  25. Indianapolis Colts (2-2) – Max Tuerk, C, USC – Disappointing start so far for the Colts, who a lot of people had as the AFC favorite. Luck has had a slow start, and a lot of that has had to do with the blocking up front. He’s on his 3rd center, and his guards have underperformed. Tuerk would be a great pick here. Capable of playing all over the line, he will be the stability Luck needs.

  26. Dallas Cowboys (2-2) – Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama – Joseph Randle has been on and off this season, and so has the run game as a whole. With that line, you’d think anyone would be successful. With coaches not happy with Randle’s decision making, a running back for the next few years may peak their interest. Derrick Henry runs hard, and has good breakaway speed.

  27. Arizona Cardinals (3-1) – Shillique Calhoun, DE, Michigan State – You can never have too many pass rushers, and with a team as complete as the Cardinals, you draft the best players available, at the positions that have the biggest impact on the game. Calhoun is a well-respected guy who has the athleticism to burst off the edge in the 3-4.

  28. Denver Broncos (4-0) – Spencer Drango, OT, Baylor – The Denver defense has been out of this world this season, and outside of DeMarcus Ware, they are all relatively young. The offensive line needs to improve. Spencer Drango is very experience lineman who has started 4 years at left tackle. Concensus All American last year, expect him to continue his high level of play.

  29. Carolina Panthers (4-0) – Rashard Higgins, WR, Colorado State – The Panthers have had a relatively weak schedule to start but have been very successful nonetheless. Imagine if Carolina still had Kelvin Benjamin to throw to. Ted Ginn is currently the number 1 wideout, which needs to be changed. Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins is a smooth receiver who has insane production.

  30. Cincinnati Bengals (4-0) – Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor – Bengals look good to start the season, their defense has 11 sacks already, as opposed to 20 all of last season. Some of their depth at interior line’s contracts are due to expire, and they need to restock the position. Billings is a great run stuffer who can give Atkins more chances to rush the passer.

  31. Green Bay Packers (4-0) – Darron Lee, OLB, Ohio State – Darron Lee took over for Ryan Shazier at Ohio State, and Shazier has had success in Pittsburgh’s 3-4. Lee would have a similar situation in Green Bay. Lee was a QB in High School, has great instincts and good speed, and would really help the interior linebacking situation in Green Bay.
